Has anyone been to the Limelight Marketplace within the old Avalon/Limelight space? I passed by yesterday and went in for curiosity. There was house music reaching the sidewalk, so I was like hmmm, interesting, let me check this out! So I walked in, got dizzy from the anger and walked out, it's horrible.. It's sad, I have some great memories there, and worked there for some time, so it sucked to see what it has become.. A big F YOU to one of New York's most historic nightlife spots. I would probably just prefer it if they demolished it.

lol... looks like a nicely designed space to me.
with so many parishes closing & bankrupting, who knows what the future holds for those spaces too.

Dude... SO WEIRD that you posted this. Just yesterday I was looking up videos on YouTube from Limelight and bumming out. It's my favorite club ever. Was the first club in NY I ever went to, first place I uh ... and the dudes that basically introduced me to DJ'ing and the whole scene many moons ago used to promote and hold residencies there. I swear if I ever strike it rich I'm buying that place back. I heard they dumped like 16 million into wrecking the joint.
YouTube wont let me embed this video but ugh... look at it.

I feel like d36 won't be open for too much longer, the two times i was there, no one was getting drinks, and that space is just too large. It's sad to realize, but it has to be said

IMO, D36 main problem is talent...
D36 invested so much $$$ into the club that they forget the talent.
They should bring in some limelight with big names first, to get the following...

They haven't even announced any residents except I guess few local crews. To some of us that's a big deal.
PS... whoever is managing that space, I'm sure has a vision for it pass the dollars.

went in there today and bought a cupcake. the dj booth area is empty/used as storage; the rest -- including the former library/spider room -- is a variety of yuppified shops.
as far as these type of spaces go, the tenants could have been far worse than the 2 dozen small shops currently in residence [think john varvatos @ cbgbs's, td bank @ everywhere, etc.].
