Enough has been said about how unique this quality film is but I was wondering if anyone has seen the blu-ray for this? I got it recently and felt there is a lot more footage in this than the dvd I had from awhile back. Criterion did an amazing job, as usual, in making the movie look fantastic. PQ is just proper.

It was almost certainly shot on 35mm film, which has a far higher resolution than HD (1080p).
Unless the filming was poor, it shouldn't be a problem for any editing house on the planet to transfer it to BluRay.
The difference you were seeing was simply the player/TV you watched it on, before/after the HD conversion.

I'd have to disagree with that since im using the same equipment i saw the dvd on for the blu-ray (ps3). A lot of the grain has been removed, colors pop, better clarity of details like dents in helmet. But I am no AV buff so this is just opinion.

Yeah, there's a lot of difference between the resolution of DVD format and the resolution of HD (Bluray). This is what I meant by "before/after the HD conversion".
The best way you'll ever see it is in it's analogue form, ie. 35mm film. But you can't do that at home

And what self-respecting film critic wouldn't have a 35mm projector in their home

I even have super8 projector... I bought it with the 35mm one at a yard sale in Milwaukee for $45 and a pb&j sandwich when I was trekking through the mid west on a search for reasonable priced shingles.
