Heading up there this weekend...what is the best place to get Dim Sum in the downtown Toronto area...Queen St West area...

Lai Wah Heen is expensive. you pay mostly for the atmosphere rather than the food. if you insist on paying that much for food then i would recommend going to Emperor in richmond hill. their food is much better.

my favourite is Ginger & Onion at market village in markham (rated #6 in that list). they still push the traditional dim sum carts around so you can see your food before you order. the prices are VERY reasonable. i was there yesterday for lunch with one of my friends and the total for both of us was only $16.

ruby (not sure if its still around but its at woodside square in scarborough) used to be really good but has gone downhill over the years. i think the original chefs left or something along those lines. my grandfather, who lives two blocks away, used to frequent this place on a daily basis but no longer goes there because it just isnt as good any more.

one thing i do agree with the writer of this article is the best chinese food is found north of downtown toronto in the suburbs. if i want a good chinese meal i refuse to go downtown. if i want something quick and full of MSG then i will go to chinatown.

Thanks for the advice! I know you guys say that most of the good places are outside of the city, but this time I'm staying in the city, so I wanted to try to find a place that was within a short walk of the Sheraton on Queen St W.
So any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I think we might be going to Footwork that night, do you suggest that? Or is there something else better going on in the city that night?
I see Guv has Dash, but idk if I really want to go to that.
