first of all, sry z if this isnt the appropriate place for this thread but i didnt know where else to go for help & suggestions (perhaps you can guide me where it would be best that i'd go to receive a greater response back)...

so, i'll be popping my euro cherry this summer- finally- in june. The whole purpose of this trip is Sonar but i figured, shit, if I'm already in europe i might as well take advantage and travel as well. taking that into consideration i decided to branch out to germany & holland, as well as Spain of course. I've limited this euro-trip to just 3 countries in a span of 3 weeks- one week in each country, give or take.

of course, budget is a plus and im trying to not just throw money around but it is my first time in europe and i believe it will be such an experience that i dont want to limit myself from doing stuff.

the cheapest flight i found was to leave for holland may 31, work my way west towards germany and then ending it with spain to come back june 22/23- thats coming out to $700. figured this was the best way to go since i would want to be back for the 4th of july. also, i intend to get a euro trail pass for 7-9 days to get me around (if anyone has info they can share with me on this topic, that would be great and much appreciated).

anyways, now that you have an idea of the framework of my trip...i seek help, suggestions, recommendations, ideas of cities, places, museums, clubs or parties that i MUST cross paths with. i'm also looking for places that are not so touristy since i would like to get a true feel & experience of the cultures/traditions.

so, if anyone on these boards have traveled to any of these 3 countries and have anything that they can share with me, id be deeply appreciated. thanks!

lol mr. ibiza king, ahhh i wish but the $$ just isnt there...i would love to do ibiza but proper, so that will be my destination next year...its already in the works-- 10 days in ibiza for closing parties is the plan, if God permits.

fly ryanair, ezjet, whizz air for less then $20 EU just remember to say a prayer before you take off and dont get sucked into the engine when boarding the plane...the yellow tape around the engine is there for a reason lol

really? is airfare that cheap flying from one place to another over there. my friends father told me the same but i figured he was exagerrating or simply just didnt know what he was talking about.

either way, id need a pass i think to get around from city-to-city...i do plan to hit up frankfurt, hamburg, munich, berlin in just germany...spain i have a few places as well that id like to hit up.

another thing, as soon as i touch land...im playing things by the ear and going with the flow soo as i mentioned im spending a week give/take in each country depending how much im enjoying myself and how much there is for me to explore.

im checking kayak right now and easyjet has flights from amsterdam to berlin for just $79..that is nice and a time saver but i dont want to book flights and be forced to leave a place that i'd like to stay more time in...of course its only that cheap bc its well far in advance but if i were to book em at the moment it sure wouldnt be the same.

edit: tested a flight, $175 if i were to book it a week in advance

good looks though, def an option i can contemplate on.

Just whatever you do, try avoiding Rome, Paris, Venice and Milan because they are filled with annoying American tourists and amateurs. Picture Times Square and you get the idea. (Amsterdam is the same, just filled with annoying tourists from UK)

The airfare is cheap as long as you dont get anything extra, that includes air. Don't breath while you're in the plane because they will charge extra for that. Not to mention the luggage.. Train or bus would be my pick, distances are so short anyway. Basically if you're flying from Amsterdam to Hamburg (1hr flight) you're still prob faster there by train because you still have to go through security, boarding, etc etc.. and that is going to take couple of hours at least. And you'd have to take a bus or a taxi anyway to get out from the airport.

I have personally enjoyed Salzburg (Austria) probably the most of all the places i've been in Europe. My advice is to go outside the tourist grid, go to small towns, stay in hostels and meet new people.

ryanair has 1.99EU flights for last minute but you have to totally guess on when they release it. It's normally day to 2 days prior.

Also you want to remember that RyanAir, Whizz Air, EzJet etc all leave out of smaller airports, you might need to research different airports in different countries where you have to take the train to get there to get that flight.

Example - I went from Amsterdam to Rome from RyanAir for 22EU one way, the only problem was I couldnt leave out of Schipol. I had to take a 12EU train from Centraal Station to Eindhoven Holland, 2hr train ride, to get my RyanAir flight to Rome. For 34EU I couldn't even buy a rail-ticket at that price.

Put it this way my dude...planning a "EURO-TRIP" takes a lot of work and it's wise to plan a head instead of going on a whim especially if you have a budget you need to work around. In the end, you'll end up having less headache not having to worry about where your staying, when you're getting there, etc.

For my EU trip, I made sure I had my flights and hostels booked up, yea it forced me into specific days in specific countries but I wasn't surprised when it came to cost.

I don't even remember spending mad time at the airport waiting for a ryanair / ezjet flight.

Be it that he's a New Yorker, let it be his turn to act like a dumb ass tourist and believe me, I hit Picadilly with a gigantic map during rush hour. I didn't give a fuck that peoples was rushing to work, even better going on the tube in the morning I stood there in gate trying to figure out how to exit...i didn't give a fuck about people being pissed at me now they know how I feel when every motherfucka visits NY.

That's funny. All the trips i've done to Europe (granted, i lived there more than 22 years and been all over) I never 'planned' anything. Most of the time i didn't even book my hostels, just took my backpack and left. Hell, the best trip of my life was going to an airport and pick a flight randomly. Enjoyed 7 very beautiful days in the French Alps. Didn't have flights, accommodation, bus tickets, nothing. It all worked out. And it was the cheapest holiday ever.

The thing in Europe is the people are actually very nice to you if you are nice to them. There are hundreds of hostels in one city alone and you can always ask advice from locals. You can't really save money booking your hostels or getting your bus tickets in advance.. If you book them too far in advance you're stuck with only one option.

If you overplan it, you'll destroy your vacation and you'll be disappointed. It's good to have essentials planned, but that's pretty much it.

That's just my 2 cents. Everybody likes to travel by their own rules. So you can value my advice accordingly. Just ignore it if you dont like it I'm just the kind of guy who likes to explore.
