When you send a txt you're not sending it directly to that person's phone. You're sending it via a message centre who then forward it on. A bit like an email. It costs you to send a message to your message centre, but by changing the settings on your phone you can tell it to send SMS's through a difference message centre. If you use one of these it's free.

Yah, ive got that thing wit O2 when you get 300free txt and 300free minz on wap. But my 300 txt always runout, thats why i use the smsc's.
