The place did a terrible job of trying to re-brand itself as "not a gay club anymore", so it sort of had an identity crisis. When it became Primal, the promoters brought in the douchebag crowd, and it clearly became a straight club. If you remember, they made an obvious point of having people like Pamela Anderson and stuff as "guest hosts" when they first opened to send the signal that "This is not a gay club anymore".
I remember one time I was at WetBar (I think Ferry was spinning), and some trannies in girl scout outfits were dancing around in the VIP area near the DJ booth. It was batshit crazy, and I thought it was awesome, but I can see how most people in Atlanta would have a hard time feeling comfortable in that sort of environment.
It's good that The Quad can go late. All true EDM clubs should. I remember the days when eleven50 would stay open until 4am, but as soon as the earlier last call was implemented, it turned into "If we can't make money from the bar, we close". Lame.
