Here's an odd one for you (Xone 92)

So I was playing last night at a club. Setting up before hand I had to bring my mixer and while playing around with it I happened to turn the Aux pots at the top of the 92.

Straight away I noticed that the master meters were being affected by the aux pots.
In other words, when I turned the aux pots completely down the master LEDs turned completely off. If I rotated them fully clockwise they went into the red, even though the channel mixer wasn't in the red.

My question is, where should they be set and how come they affect the master leds?
I was trying to work it out in my head but I didn't have anything hooked up to the Aux Sends/return. I only had a microphone hooked up.

Anyway, it's just something that I found a little odd and wondered if you had any idea why the pots at the top would affect the master out meters in this way.

Cheers

or maybe

could it be you had one of the aux buttons pressed in the monitor section? would that affect the led meters? or maybe perhaps the pre buttons by the aux pots?

Tony's probably spot on - the master LEDs switch between showing master level and cue level, so if the Aux 1 button in the Cue section was pressed, you'd be cueing the level of the Aux 1 knobs.

If you're not using them, leave them at -∞

Just checked there and none of the Aux channels were cue'd.

It was so odd, if i had all the Aux pots at ∞ I got nothing through the master meter.
I ended up just raising the aux pot on the channel till it matched what I was seeing on the individual channel. Will hook it up again tomorrow and see if I can recreate the problem.

That's weird. The aux sends shouldn't affect anything unless you have something patched into it or if you accidentally pushed in the cue button. Does the 92 have any other type of routing to the aux? What about the sends from your input channels?

Nope I had nothing bar a mic connected to the mic's XLR input on AUX1.

Completely bizarre. When I was disconnecting the mixer the TRS jacks from my monitor were touching off the XLR inputs into the master and the booth monitor gave off a nice bit of distortion but there's no way that would have hurt the mixer. At least I'm nearly sure of that. If anything it would have been the monitor that would have had a hard time.

Anyway. I was completely perplexed while at the gig. Going to hook it all up when I get a chance and see what the hell is going on.

I've never used the Aux ins or outs on the mixer so this was all a little strange for me.
