Some trip suggestions

I am from NY. I love BBQ and decided to make a trip out of it because I have cousins down south. Sooooooo this is my plan.(10 days)

1. NYC
2. Mcallen, Texas(2 nights)
3. Travel Day
[Mcallen,Corpus Chirsti,San Antonio
4. San Antonio, Texas(3 nights)
5. Travel Day
[San antonio,Beaumont,Lake Charles,Lafayette,Baton Rouge,New Orleans
6. New Orleans, LA(3 nights)
7. Travel Day
[New Orleans,Gulfport,Biloxi,Mobile,Montgomery,Auburn,Atlanta]
8. Atlanta, GA( 1night)
9. NYC

Anyone recommend any restaurants(Already researched Diner, dives and drive thru's and Man Vs Food places) or things to do in the above mention towns you know of besides shopping. I def am doing a rodeo in san-antonio and going gun shooting as well near austin. See #4 above.

If you are going to be in the Valley, go to South Padre Island. If things were better in Mexico I'd tell you to go there and get some tacos, but I'm pretty sure, you value your life.

Atlanta restaurants:

If you want a burger, hit up The Vortex on Peachtree Street.
If you want grease and a burger on the side, hit up The Varsity on North Avenue.
If you're into all you can eat Brazilian BBQ, hit up Fogo de Chao in Buckhead.

Damn straight. Texas has THE best BBQ. Only problem with texas BBQ is it gets racial but theres starting to be a big cross of influences.
Por Ejemplo; Theres White people BBQ which usually consists of Thick sauces and meats like brisket and include cooking with woods like mesquite or hickory etc...

Then theres Mexican/spanish BBQ where its fajitas or chicken fajitas or chorizo w/pico de gallo and all that bad ass stuff (best bbq IMO) and the occasional PUPUSA!!!

Theres also the subgenre of Tex mex which is the cross of 'white' and 'mexican' bbq IMO runner up

then theres... black people BBQ (not to b racist but you were fore warned) collard greens/mustard greens & ribs and other stuff which i tried and lost all faith in this style.

man i flew off the handle on bbq...

Mcallen is pretty nice right now. Have not seen palm trees since I went to FL. Pool weather!

If you are looking for BBQ and in San Antonio, I would suggest a route through Driftwood south of Austin for some Salt Lick or detour to Llano for some Coopers. They are Texas staples when it comes to BBQ, and pretty much what everything gets judged on statewide.....

now that's just a blasphemous statement. one of these days you will appreciate good bbq, and become a bbq snob.
