can you tell me how you installed reason 2? (i assume you got the um...."inexpensive" version) 
Me and my friend to figure out Reason 1.01 just sat down one night and said, "fuck, we're gonna figure out how to use this." so we read the Getting Started guide and manual, and just started figuring stuff out by editing the Demo song. if we didn't know how to do something, we made figuring out that thing our goal.
it took us a few hours thats for sure but once you figure out reason it's easy. (kind of, haha producing isn't easy.)
and when it comes to producing, i recommend to make a song structure first before you tweak and stuff, too often i see people making these 2 minute samples, and tweaking them and stuff, but then the task of making a full song is then daunting. plus knowing how the layout of the song will be will help you in your making it.
