Smiley DJ Decided..

I have finally decided what decks to get and I have chosen..

2x Gemini PT-2400 Direct Drive Turntables
1x Gemini EX-26 3 Band Mixer

I would really appreciate any views you have on this equipment cos i am spending quite a bit of money on it (549.00 pounds).

Someone also reccomended me getting the Stanton STR880 Turntables but I prefer the sound of these Geminis as I think they are simular to the PT-2410 which are a really good turntable

I have Technics, but I hear the PT-2400 is pretty good. Some say they are close to Technics!

!

A Gemini deck being compared to a technics, whatever next!

No being serious I got a m8 with those same decks, I spun some tunes on it and thought it was ok (But i aint had much experience in the field of the TT's) he says he likes them, but he said that he didn't what a gemini mixer, and got a vestax instead.

However I am still waiting for my A-level results and considering buying Technics 1210 m3d's and a Vestax PCV-275, I definetly will if I dont get into uni, but I don't wanting to spending my student loan on vinyls .

Anyway in the end its your decision man, have a play on lots of decks and pick the ones u like most if you aint got unlimited budget, i'm sure people could rave on here about decks, but surely not more than the HD-280's!

Later, Spectra

That is exactley the point. The Gemini PT-2410 are incredible decks with a stronger torque than the 1210s and minor differences are V. small, the PT-2400s are more or less the same, and don't forget I have never had decks before so even if I do get technics it will be a long time away cos these decks are worth their weight

p.s. I'm not getting the EX-26 mixer as it is more suited to scratch djs

More torque in your dreams yeah. On paper they are faster, but in real life it isn't as good as techs...

yea..gotta agree...Don't go by paper spec's. They can stretch the truth alot, how it actually performs in the real world, (after beer, smoke, and whatever will be the true test)

The gemini TT's are just fine. Especially for home use, once you've gotten used to them... Just be aware of the fact that Technics are the standard, and they ARE better. You have to make a choice between waiting some more, saving up, getting 1200's OR to get the gemini's right now. If you've decided which way to go, I think I can safely say that you will not be dissapointed with the geminis, they are JUST FINE. Nothing more, nothing less. But think about it, and be sure of yourself, and be sure what to expect. IE don't expect the world's greatest TT's.

As for the mixer, I'd advise you not to get a scratch mixer, not that I've ever used one, but it just seems .... odd. Esp Gemini mixers don't have that great of a reputation. (Not sure if this applies to their scratch-mixers aswell....)

Looking back at my post, I realise that my advise on the mixer is pretty much useless...hey, at least I ment well...

yea, basically weigh up the fact of either getting a pair of decks now, or wait a bit longer and get the finest rack a vinyl can have the priviledge of sitting on, its ur call man, but I know what I would choose.

i agree, you won't be dissappointed any way you go. if you go for the gemini's i don't think you're gonna need techs in the future. unless techs are gonna stay as standard for longer... i don't mean they are no standard. but they won't be selling as much in the future (unless technics get a new model on the market). new tt's are gradually taking over the place... (pdx2000,ttx-1,tt-200)

don't go for a scratch mixer. don't do this to your self, believe me you're gonna regret. their crossfaders are so fucking strange! they turn on the volume so fast+80% of their way to the other channel is max vol for both of them... you're gonna hate it+not be able to make transition till you get another one (unless you choose to make transitions using the upfaders).
