Howz this groove

My Brother started this one off and I've been at it a few nights. I've found a new way of mastering too - took M4B advice about parallel compression.

Howz this so far

I'm not liking the attack on the kick so much, like it's too dry and dominant and almost sounds like it's clipping. Bassline is definitely good but I would rethink the kick a bit.

When it first started, I didn't much see the problem with it, but as it gets to the middle, I suppose it's a little distracting, but then a lot of stuff comes in around it and kind of fills in the gaps.

As proof of concepts go, you're onto something, here. I definitely like the over-all vibe. Can't wait to hear more.

That pretty much sums it up for me as well, although, TBH I probably wouldn't have even thought much about it if Atlantis hadn't pointed it out. I really like it once the groove gets established around 1:05.

Pretty groove piece of music Richard, particularly like this House/Industrial site of it. As far as kick is going, I can definitely hear this issue with it in the second part of this track and you can of course change this kick or (what I would do sometimes in order to have more action/depth and feel for this kick) is to add another layer with the same kick and see what that would do for you my friend - my $0.02.

Looking very promising so far man!

Cheers,

Darek

Really cool so far. It sounds like you're on to something. That lead is especially catchy.

Much more grooving this time, but the kick and bass are too loud compared to everything else. Kind of makes the track sound dark which is maybe what you want. But please stop compressing the output - a quiet mixdown is nothing to be ashamed of.

Now, you just achieved next level of perfection my friend lol - love how this kick is blended with this whole environment sound and interact organically with the rest - You just nail it Richard.

Cheers man,

Darek

Tell you what, I need to learn from you - I no way too little about the whole limiting 'mastering' process.

Darek - cheers man, that's good to hear.

Send me a reminder when the mix is finished and I'll tell you just what I think it needs or master it for you.

Actually agree with this statement - it was (I hope) my big problem.

Cheers,

Darek
