Haha you can't beat some old school vinyl. Those where the days.
If I was going back to the vinyl, i'd definately go Serato, heard good thing about its use but sticking with the cdj's for now. Read up on timecode cds, do the same thing as the serato vinyl apparently but with cds so quite interested in that.
600 bucks for a soundcard would be a good bit over my budget at the moment. Looking at a Maya 44 soundcard now after reading some reviews, not that expensive and does exactly what I need it to do.
As for software VirtualDJ meant to be quite good. |
I use Virtual DJ, and I like it quite a bit. Great waveform display at the top, and I love the layout. I use a Hercules RMX controller with it, which works very well, but I'm sure you can hook your CDJs and mixer with timecode CDs into it with no problem.
It's definitely more limited for samples and things than Traktor, though. Traktor is quickly becoming the "industry standard" as far as laptop software is concerned, but it's ultimately up to personal preference. Traktor, Serato, and Virtual DJ all have demos so I'd try them out and decide which one you like best.
