How to make a fat and heavy hard trance bass...

Yeah so I'm currently into the hard trance at the moment. Looking to write a hard trance track in the coming weeks. I'm wondering how I can make a driving heavy and fat, classic hard trance bass. I've heard a number of prominent producers use this type of bass, spanning from Dj Dean, Cosmic Gate, and Ziggy X. I do not have any analogue gear at the moment. So I'd like to make this on software. I own VSTs such as Nexus(with most of the expansions), Vanguard, and V-Station. So if anyone can point me in the right direction I would realllllllllly appreciate it.

I will post some examples below:

Put a donk on it.

Ok it's not something you can just learn from reading - it's alwasy quite a fine artisan process to get it just right and that comes with practice.

You can cheat and buy ready made basslines - just google hardstyle bass loops.

To make your own start with a square wave. You need to play around with the envelope - especially the attack. You might want to automate the volume of each note instead of using an envelope - litteraly draw in the volume so it goes ...oooowwppp

You njeed to autome / use the envelope to control a low pass filter too - hear how the tone sorta closes up at the end of each note - thats what you can do with a filter.

You will likely need a higher and lower bass sound and to layer them to give enoguh thickness. You may sometimes what to add some chorus on the higher part - even automate the chorus on each note

Then it will be VERY important to whack this into the right sort of tube emulation and or compressor so you get that 'hit against a wall' quality.

Study all the 'donk' or hard type bass tuts on youtube etc

Wow, this sounds extremely technical...

I do know how to automate though like you said. Just layering is a pain in the ass : S

It's all a pain in the ass until you get used to doing it, at which point you discover the next weakness to over-come which, almost invariably, turns out to be a real pain in the ass.

Yeah. Getting better patience is also a real pain in the ass.

All you need is a really low, dry pulse wave and you're like 90% done already.

The youtube videos sound like vengeance essentials club sounds bass samples.

They do kinda... good call.
You think it's better to use samples vs. an actual VST?
