should i leave it the way it is? or start from scratch?

alright so i probably should of posted this in the music promotion forum, but i feel as though id get better replys here..alright so let me start off by saying this is the first track ive actually finished, and feel comfortable enough to share with people...so im basically just looking for some criticism.

ive shared it with a few friends, and they all say they really enjoyed it particularly the melody, but most of them agree that they hate the bassline,

im really not even sure what genre its suppose to be.

Vocals are well put into the mix, the piano loop could use a small dip around so the vocals stand out more when playing together. They blur eachother a but now.

The melody line of the piano is a bit too long for my liking. Hard to memorize.

All in all it sounds ok. It would benefit most from sound selection at this point overall. Technically most of it is alright.

it just stops abruptly at 3:00.

melody is good, bassline isn't all to hot. Try layering it. My ears are asking for some type of quick decay sawtooth type synth. If that doesn't work, think about how ALL the sounds synergize. The sound design and selection make the whole song flat. Everyone who hears this know's what you are going after, you just need to execute.

cheers for the replies guys, i agree sound design is still my weakest point, although i have been spending a few months now trying to geta grasp on it,i am going to defitnely work on that aspect more.

i also didnt really intend for this to be like a dance track, more so jus something to listen to ..even though it has a 4x4 beat..

i like the lead synth sound but it doesnt sit well with what you have to bright i guess. Bassline is a bit too loud(maybe EQ the low lows a bit) , especially with the kick you've chosen.
