[Deep House/Classic Prog/Commercial House/Pop/WTF?] The Snark - Live @ Salon EXP

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to play a really fun gig at the request of a friend. She works at a Salon and they were having a grand opening at a new location, and her fiance (one of my closest friends) planned their party. He asked me to provide the tunage. Of course, being a salon, I'd need to bring my own sound and equipment. (Got a chance to try out my QSC K-12s somewhere other than my garage.)

At first I hesitated, because I know what it's like to play to a non-EDM crowd in Ohio. I am not a top-40 DJ, but my friend is very aware of this and just told me to do my thing. I also didn't want to bore or confuse a room full of 100 - 150 (mostly smoking hot females) people with deep tech and prog house. I wanted to throw in recognizable tracks without playing complete shit that I was embarrassed to play. Finding recognizable pop songs in a "respectable" (?) dance music format is rather difficult.

Part one is more along the lines of my normal sound. What I ended up doing is kind of going back and forth, because most of the recognizable tracks were also in a much "harder" direction than I wanted to go. (This isn't a night club, after all.) The result is either disjointed or varied/eclectic, depending on your point of view, but I think I made it work pretty well. I ended up getting a lot of compliments and everyone really had a great time, so I'm pretty happy with it overall, even if I did play songs like "Good Voodoo" in the same set as Kelly Rowland.

tl;dr / COR version: This is just some fun and fairly random music in a set that doesn't take itself too seriously, played live in a hair salon off-hours. Enjoy.
