Tracks here were pretty good, flow was pretty straightforward, with the exception of an electro track that was played earlier in the set, which seemed awfully out of place. I liked the track, but I couldn't see why it was played at that particular time. My favorite track was the last one, something about that atmosphere was super cool. Overall it was a really nice trance set, not super psychedelic, but a good effort at psy nonetheless.
Now, uh... have a seat. We need to talk.
The mixing. It was, for lack of a better word, horrendous. This set would have definitely been a top trance set for me, because I enjoyed most of the set. I will be honest, I had a major problem with almost every single transition. About 34 minutes into it, I was seriously considering turning it off, because it was like 3 or 4 straight bad mixes. But I recalled how terrible I was at mixing when I first started out, so I kept listening.
You have a multitude of problems in mixing:
- Beatmatching: This was the clear winner of the most frequent problems during transitions. Almost every transition was clicky, where the kicks weren't matched up all the way. You need to work on this, otherwise, people notice really messy transitions and that ruins sets.
- Distortion: I experienced this quite frequently when listening. There were many transitions that featured either a track that was too loud upon bringing it in, or the low frequencies were too muddled or too boosted which caused a great deal of distortion. This also ruins sets.
- Phrasing: There were several points where the phrasing was very far off. You need to ensure that the tracks are lined up properly enough to where the breakdown on one track does not line up with a beat on the incoming track, or vice versa. Crashes were improperly used, and that's a very noticeable error. Not uncommon, but noticeable.
Besides the terrible mixing, I enjoyed the tunes. I look forward to hearing your next effort.

First I'd like to thank you for listening to the entire set. and second this is exactly the sort of review that I wanted see from someone that has been doing this much longer than myself. I'm glad that at least you enjoyed the overall set and the tracks.

I agree with you on this 100% and I've always said to myself that this is a work in progress and only by time/more practice I will get much better at it. :P Like you said youself we all go through this stage in the beginning.

I think one of the problem I have here is that I do almost all my mixings in my headphones and dont use the monitors as much and perhaps this is the reason why I cant get the beatmatching the way it should be.. Again I believe this is something that will only get better by more and more practicing.

Using the right amount of EQing has been a challenge for me ever since I started Djing. I've been using different methods throughout my mixes to get the best levels and lesser distortion so this as well is a work in progress.
