"Freefall" *(original mix)

Here's a new track i've been working on lately.
all comments are welcome, good or bad.
the occasional crackles in the track are from my virus TI which could well be heading out of the upstairs window very soon!!

That might not even be the hardware, could be your PC. Not sure tho. Seems like the track could benefit from a little ducking. Not feeling any pump or groove. The sound itself is very 2003 though.

hi mate, thanks for the comments, sidechaining not my strong point when it comes to makin tunes, any suggestions on settings? i could use to make it pump a little more? i use waves c1.

i have read many articles online regarding sc but there seems to be that many opinions on what sounds best that it just confuses me, so i normally just use my ears, what i'm really after though is tyas like sidechain settings for waves c1. if there's one thing he does well, its sidechaining!

it probably sounds 2003ish cause i probably started it then! lol.
just dont get the time to make much music anymore.

with regards to my virus, i never had a problem with it till i had to reinstall windows again, since then its just never been the same, and trust me, ive tried everything i can think of to get it working again without crackles.
cheers baz.

well, choose a short sample of a kick, or an open hat works too. but make sure it's a click and there isn't a lot of tail or sustain on the sample, so it doesn't trigger the compressor twice, or other issues.

ratio at between 1:25 and 1:30-ish, here are some attack and release settings you can try. 2.5ms attack, 80ms release (pads, leads?), 60ms attack, 90ms release (bassline?), for percussion i use stuff like 30ms attack and 50-60 ms release, but it all just depends on the sound. all of those should work nicely, though. the sample in combination with those parameters also has a lot to do with how the effect ends up sounding. good luck.
