Making a career out of any skill requires a lot of time, dedication, practice, learning, etc. If you feel that you're not good enough, then your choices are essentially to:
a - work harder, smarter, and with determination,
b - be content with mediocrity and little/no chance for success, or
c - pursue a different career.
If you are producing trance and thinking of making a career out of it, my advice would be to talk to some of the guys around here who have had successful careers (e.g., Lolo, Storyteller). I suspect that they'll tell you to wise up, make music as a hobby, and choose a different career path with a higher likelihood of success and better income.
As far as improving your skills goes, look for ways to get more experience. Work with other people and share knowledge, step outside your comfort zone and produce things that you normally wouldn't, learn a new instrument, etc.
