Be Cool - tech house/progressive

Taking a little break on a couple ideas, and got to crackin' on this. spent more time on FX than I usually do, and especially trying to get the groove right and stuff. going to try and get a little more done, but my laptop is getting really hot haha

Effective use of swing, creates a groove that works.

Arrangement drags a little. It fails to build sufficient tension, instead it remains a little too "one level" and flat. Perhaps better use of automation and FX to help build the energy where required would help?

Of course, you are still working on it so these things may well be rectified

Thanks for checking, I can see what you mean. I was pretty tired when I finished this, but at this point I think I can strip back and rework some of the components. Arrangement is my weak spot! I think all of the elements are present, it's just a matter of energy control I think?

Feeling a lot better about this idea now, thanks for the great feedback as always Taken a new direction, but so far, more pleased with it than before. If you hear anything weird, let me know. I think there is a signal or delay running loose in the background, I'm going to have to compare the WAV file to the SC version. hope the idea still comes across.

Updated CC and original CC welcome and encouraged.

Im liking the groove as well, but yes the arrangement is kind of weak...i know its not the finished product but if you're having trouble with the arrangement take a track that you like and thats similiar to yours and follow that tracks arrangement. Sometimes its just the little things that make a track that much better such as a sweep here and there or half a second no sound pause right before the bass kicks in.. those kinds of things if you know what i mean. Great start though keep at it!

Thanks for the feedback. I just needed those phat instruments and a solid bass, beyond that, I think it's gonna work out for this track. If you know my productions, this is a nice change for the better. Leads, arps, chord progressions, I can do those things and I love doing them, but I think nailing the full, fat-filled mix with a solid bottom end, which helps bind those composer qualities, is what I need to seek next. This forum is truly an instrument though. No pun intended.

I'm not sure, feels like it could use a bass patch like that to stand out. All in time though.

listened to the mkay5566 clip, allright so groove is pretty classic (nice) that vocal bit is cool (i would have kept the one in the first clip tho, twas really cool reminded me of toolroom records for some reason) I think that at 0:30ish whe the bass kicks in you could add a little fill nothin crazy jst maybe a sweep or a couple drum hits, just to signal that the tune is going to another section.

My main problem with this is that there is no energy shifts whatsoever, the music is playing to be playing, its not saying anything, its not tellign me to be excited or to be anticipating something or to relax. This type of music is all about arrangement and you said arrangement is your weak point so ill give you a break ;p
but thats my main concern with this tune.

Not the best example but:

Notice how its buildup after buildup after buildup and tense as hell and then releases, this is what im talking about, this is what i think your track lacks.

btw take everything i say with a grain of salt, not bitching just saying what i think
