K, I'm not computer savy but to get best mp3 version from my vinyls will my netbook be able to do the same job as a pc? all I know is that sound quality would probably be better if I used a pc instead because netbooks don't have as much processing strength. Is it true then that I would be wastefully burning vinyl to mp3 on a netbook?
Or should I go by a USB turntable and go for it?

Not sure about the netbook processors. I've heard people mixing with them so they'd seem to have sufficient processing power for vinyls. It all depends how you want to hook the sound to the interface(netbook,PC). If you go the USB route sound cards won't affect quality. So I guess it all comes down to achieving the highest sound for yourself. If that is the path you want to take them suggest going PC and getting a digital turntable with a optical-out or S/PDIF-out.

I imagine my netbook has the capacity to accomplish what I need it for. So i am probably going with getting a USB turntable. I guess my question is more about the hardware I should get. Will I want an M-Audio digital converter if i get a USB turntable?

you will definitely want some kind of A/D preamp device.

Wow honestly I didn't think anything like that existed. So do you want to cut out the interface completely and go direct to CD?
