I've been listening to a lot of Cirez D lately and my god, the bass in his songs are simply amazing.

go to 0:30 --> and listen to the bass when it drops. boom



any idea what he does to make those massive basslines? (logic pro preferably?) I think that sounding bass will be able to make anyone get down..

you can hear it in a lot of his songs, this one for example..



today I was also listening to axwell's 'heart is king' and noticed a similar sounding bassline coming in at 0:26 here



p.s. do you think that's the only bass they're using in the songs.. just a kick and that bassline? or is there like a deeper bass that i can't hear on a laptop that makes it sound so massive live..

Live bass always sounds huge. As others have mentioned.

A lot of dance theses days gets most of it's bottom end energy from the bass drum. They have long subby tails, a lot of actual basslines are not as heavy as you think.

Detune two saw tooth waves, mess about with the filter cut off (either a high pass or a low pass depending on your taste) get it to fit with a 909 or 808 style bassdrum.

Alternatively, try layering some saws with a sine wave an octave or two below the saws, mess about with the levels of each oscillator.

The Track you posted "Tomorrow" Is deffo a sine bassline with either a square or saw layered gently over the top, then it has that running arp thing over that too.

A lot of it is the kick though.

I think you're right, it kind of tricks the mind... swedish house mafia also relies heavely on the kick and they do an awesome job at it, very punchy and pounding with a long tail.

I think your laptop is the culprit. If you're using laptop speakers then you don't hear any real bottom end at all, so you got used to it, but listening to these boomy (and I can tell you on real speakers it sounds absolutely abysmal) live tracks the distortion and eqing makes it sound for you as if it had more low end than your tracks or regular tracks that aren't utter garbage quality wise. The solution is to buy studio monitors or at least some quality headphones.

in that video what moves the people is the kick, not the bassline. And is the start of the set it seems, everyone is excited...

What I find funny is that in that Eric Prydz video, the fog machine plays a vital role in the drop you mentioned, providing the white noise. Just listen when it suddenly stops making fog, the tracks falls apart
