The story behind the lyrics

quote from Eminem
quote:
...Music is reflection of self... we just explain it..and then we get our checks in the mail......

having said this, i know a lot of artists talk about life experiences, especially artists like alanis mooriste (whatever), u2, rage agaisnt the machine and the list goes on and on. Does anyone know any vocal trance songs that reflect who the artist is and the experiences they go through?

I was thinking about this while listening to Armin f/ Ray Wilson - Yet Another Day. It almost seems like he is singing about a terminal illness, or being mistakingly killed. Has anything happened to Armin OR Ray Wilson that reflects on their lyrics?

wow, am i getting too deep or what? o well, it beats 100 other "best song of 2002/summer/day/week" threads

yeah then also think about paul oakenfold with his southern sun...
but i can imagine that these trance artists first write the trance song and then eventually come up with some nice lyrics?
also.. i wonder what happened to riva.... because of their "time is the healer" would be something serious i guess :P

"Yet Another Day" was written by Ray Wilson in high school after a friend he had took his own life.

i knew it had some truth to it. It's a hard thing when a friend dies, but just imagine a friend taking his own life. Much Respects

Kind of on/off the same subject; but can some of you post song lyrics and their stories maybe as to what is behind them .

Just curious as to opinions/thoughts on lyrics I guess.

Personally I don't like this "lyrics" aspect to music.

Trance is made to take you to another level, another state of mind.

When listening to music I don't want to hear about some guy's marital problems or someone lamenting the loss of their close family member or anything. Shit, I have enough problems of my own.

i knew it! see, when lyrics have some connection to the real life, the artist involuntarily puts more emotion into them... thus making the song much better...

i think i have a feeling for those songs that are connected to reality... i mean, they're not just about some random stuff that you came up with... they're about some real events and your'e reflecting your feelings about them in the song...

now i see why i liked Yet Another Day so much from the beginning...

Well, when you write a piece of poetry or some kind of song what would you think about writing? What is on your mind at that time and some of the most descriptive words you could think of, right? At least, that's what I'd do... it's kind of sad because a lot of the time, we face so much sorrow and agony that a good percentage of lyrics in songs are about death, sickness, or hate.

I don't necessarily that lyrics make a song better, a lot of trance songs are best without lyrics because they are meant to take you away, literally, "put you in a trance" as the name suggests. But, emotions spurring, will generally lead to more detailed, accurate, and meaningful adjectives, rather than normal words you'd think of if you were really happy. Unless you were REALLY happy, then you could think of some really happy things... hehe. Man, I'm such a dork... lol
