MPK mini config
Just picked up a mpk mini today, and i realized after half an hour that i had no idea what i was doing with it. I tried to set it up with fl studio 9 and it basically refused to do anything besides work with keys. im trying to get it so that the pads work independently and so i can mess with beats as i play lead parts and such. now im overly confused and im about to step on it. any bright ideas?

somewhat, but ive only been able to change the notes that the keys and the pads play and only with the piano. but im trying to set it up so it'll run 2 vst's at once, something like the keys with vanguard and the pad with some percussion.

I don't think you can do that. However, I think you can have the MPK controlling a midi channel which controls both vst's you want.

yeah, thats what i was thinking. ive seen people doing that before, so i know it can be done, im just confused about the execution. i haven't really used any midi stuff, physical controllers or chaining vsts, w/ fl studio as im just getting into it. any ideas on how to set this thing up?

hmmm... You could take the note data from the keys and pads, and then set the synths/samplers/sclicers/whatever to only play within a certain note range (the same way you change the root note in FL wrapper, but left clicking on the piano and dragging the range rather then right clicking). So then you have your pads playing beats in one octave, and your synths in another. Link the whole thing to a normal layer channel and it might work.
Sorry if it doesn't work, I can't get my n00bness to cooperate. If it does work, awesome!
