Code Duello - Discount Robot Tool (House/Techno)

Hey guys I need your advice on this one. This one feels kind of empty and needs something, but I am like this for many of my songs. Just listening to this leaves a knot in my stomach.

Code Duello - Discount Robot Tool (071511 mix WIP) by FunkySpacePiratesCDuello

What do you guys think? Does it need some type of sprucing up? Thanks for the feedback.

is it just me or is there no bassline present? (causing the emptiness?)

also, while the track has a nice groove and elemental balance, it's transitions are far too straight forward for my liking should be more subtle imo

I can hear nice blend of House/Industrial and minimal style in this track lol, but will agree completely about bass line ---> in my opinion you need deep, very active and rolling bass line which would add to a lot of low sound to your missing frequencies, after that we will see if is anything else you would have to bring to this production, because this bass line will add a lot of character and may change the whole sound/musical experience of this track --> my $0.02.

Cheers,

Darek

Right mate, gonna gibe you a tip - it's up to you if you want it. Ok this has a GREAT grove, loving the vibe and percs but as the men say, gime bass.

Check out these 2 people for bass inspiration on youtube - Rich Jones and Alan Fitpatrick - check out his track 'a drink with the devil' because your track is just screaming for the sorta bass they do.

Don't rush it now, and think about some pitch wheel action subbtley done on the bass now and then.

Great work mate

Hey guys thanks for the input! I really appreciate it. Do you guys think a bassline is absolutely necessary or just a nice or very nice addition? I've been trying to add a bassline today but no luck; i cant seem to add one without it being distracting to the whole song.

I need to hit the lab.

Could probably bring a bass in around 1:04 or one of the breaks after it. You'll probably want something soft like a triangle roller bass. Something housey/jazzy. Synchopated bassline should fit easily.

Other than that it's a pretty cool house groove. Like so far ^_^

Could be one of those tracks where the bass is more a kick accompanyment, where the sound is very similar to the kick - and try some subbtle pitchbend on the odd note, maybe the end of each 4th measure.
