Mine looks just like a crate.

Oh wait; it is a crate!

I don't spin outdoors, so I don't need a record-case...

My little brother has a record bag. It says something like: "A New Dawn Recordings" or something like that...

I have about 75 records, and they all fit in my crate. I could even put 50 more in it... so i'm satisfied with my old little plastic crate

Those plastic Curver boxes for home storage (they fit about 200 vinyls) and UDG bag for outdoor use.
Those bags are as sturdy as flightcases, but much more comfortable in transport (they fit 60 to 80 records according to the model you get).

I have a 2 part road case. It splits in the middle, so you put the top next to the bottom, throw half your records in there, and its much easier to browse than w/ an oddysey case that is cut @ the top.
mine currently has 130 records in it, and weighs a fucking tonne.

Pfff sissies... Seems you all need to do some power training. I recommend lifting up your full record case about 50 times a day. You'll see improvement pretty quick.

pfffft you sisssssies

try carrying a large, full record bag (enough vinyl for a 90 min set...you do the math) 1.5 km from the parking lot to the music festival...
then another 500m to your tent that you're camping in (3 day festival), then another 400m back to the tent you're spinning at...
then another 1.5km back to your car

total walking: 4km

as for what i use
right now for home storage i just use milk crates
spinning out i use a record bag
i am probably going ot be picking up an odyssey case this weekend cuz i found them on sale somewhere...hopefully they're easier and less strenuous to carry than a record bag
my shoulder can't handle that shit anymore

No big deal, I'm used to do big PA installs, and believe me when you have to move those BIG subs, you'll be happy if you can carry something as light as a record case.

And even more seriously, I strongly recommend those UDG bags, even over a flightcase. Even big shot dj's are using those now (PVD, Marco V, ...). They really are strong, the padding is strong as hell. The straps don't hurt, and don't rip either. Besides it has pockets for that extra promo cd () and phones...

the problem isnt so much the weight..its the ease of carrying, its got one handle. and when its that big(for 130 records) it is way out to the side, and digs into your leg.

This is now a storage case, im buyuing a soft backpack style case as soon as I can.
