What have I created???

This is my first post on this forum, so firstly, hiya everyone!

I come from a hard techno & DnB background but this week I started a new idea which has definitely become more trance like.
But, trance/house etc aren't really my styles so tbh, I don't know what it is I've created.

Be nice to know which pigeon hole you guys would put this track in and whether for that style it actually has any merit.

Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I make a decent enough living out of my other alias's & genres. I don't expect to of hit the trance jackpot in my first attempt, especially as it's a style I'm not used to listening to, let alone making.

Thanks for taking the time out to have a listen. I look forward to your feedback

Well your panned hats/splashes does sound very dnb, as does your kick.

I think the kick is holding this tune back a lot. It's very thin and "poppy" like dnb kicks sometimes are to cut through that sub, but in this instance, you don't have the sub. The pads lack bottom end, but are still side chained to a kick that also lacks low freqs?

My advice, find a new kick and add another pad underneath the current one to fill it out or add some new bassline of some sort.

Your synth work is very nice! Very good work on the squelchy saws things.

Also that heavily verb tom or what ever you use every 2 bars is fucking annoying, get rid of that all together or switch it to some deeper boomy noise.

Make a few fixes and this could be a good tune (for vocal trance).

Lunar - Cheers for your feedback. Much appreciated. I think I just need to re-address the mixdown as there should be plenty of bass. The kick itself has its own sub channel. Guess I need to crank it up a bit. I always find balancing the volume of my bass parts tricky. Somtimes the right level in the studio ends up being way too much when it's played on a big rig, which sometimes makes me wary of over doing it. But you're right. The track could do with more meat in the lower end.

KilldaDJ - can you give me some examples on non cheesy trance to listen to? I don't mean that to be sarcastic, it would just be nice to have some comparisons cos in my world cheesy isn't a compliment LOL

Thanks guys!

No prob, the mixdown is otherwise perfect, but it sounds like the whole track is highpass filtered at around 200hz or something.

I know what you mean about being overbearing on big rigs, but literally every track theses days is just bass. Sounds shit in the club, but what you gonna do?

Well, since my last post, I've had a right nightmare with this project. Mainly Cubase crashing every few mins or on every export. Strangely only with this tune, all my other current projects are fine. Goddman computers!!

Anyway, I've changed the kick and done a much better mixdown (think I rushed it late at night last time). Its amazing how different it sounds now. I was A/Bing the 2 mixes in Cubase and tbh, I can't believe I even posted the orignal one!

Hopefully this mix has more beef in the bottom end. I wouldnt say it's finished yet as I think the main break down/build in the middle could be better/bigger.

Your thoughts, as always, much appreciated

initially its either too much delay or too much reverb. sounds are cool but it sounds heavy on the ears. Needs more space i think. Love the vocals with the bassline.

TB303 like souns is cool individually but overwhelming with all the rest.

Breakdown's hit just once... not every bar for sure.

really raspy basslines... i really enjoyed. Who's the singer?

I could see a great electro remix on this. I think this could kick ass if you mute some of the synths.
