Pop Culture Minutiae (that aggravate the hell out of you)
What are some of the things that pop up occasionally over the course of your day, be they witnessed on TV, read on the internet, or, god forbid, actually confronted in public, that drive you up a fuckin' wall? The two most recent episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm inspired me to create this thread -- Larry tackled people who verbalize "LOL" and then the smiley face, something that "idiots typically insert at the end of text messages or emails".
The first thing that comes to my mind is the use of a hashtag (#) outside of twitter. I'm sick and tired of seeing #whitepeopleproblems or #sportsteam posted at the end of facebook comments or statuses. As far as I'm concerned, they might as well read #iamstupid.

Last month I saw two 12-year-old girls talking about real life trolling. It was so beautiful because they had come up with more neologisms in 5 minutes than I could possibly think of, and I was able to understand completely what they meant.
So... beautiful!

The fact that the "Pound" symbol is now called "Hashtag". so what, when you call a 1800 number and they say, "press pound for more options" do these new tweeny fucktards say, "wtf is a pound sign?" ffs

Actually it's only called the Pound symbol in the U.S.
It's mostly called the hash-key in other English-speaking countries, though I've heard number-key a lot as well.

If someone is having a hard time hearing me on the phone I do everything I possibly can to avoid saying "Can you hear me now?".
