It felt big here in NYC. ... heard cracks and stuff in my building. Epicenter was in VA - 5.8 mag.

Apparently they're evacuating the Pentagon. I might walk over there and see if I can see anything, since it's only ten minutes by foot.

I am close to the epicenter, maybe a little closer than DC.

Felt pretty big, my apartment building was clearly shaking. No damage here, though.

I'm about 30 minutes south of Montreal and we felt it. I was actually smoking a joint with my gf and we both turned around at the same time and told each other to stop fidgeting. The house shook enough for a shittily hung painting to fall.

Lira, it was a very deep earthquake, especially for it to travel so far with so much force.

East coast quakes are less violent than Pacific rim ones but travel further because the bedrock is very solid / well-connected.

Yeah, I'm gathering some information about it now. So bizarre, I had no idea you guys could have these earthquakes there, but apparently they're not exactly rare.



I'm going to wait for the news agencies to catch up and tell us if anything collapsed. Earthquakes are so awesome, I hope no one got hurt.
