i appreciate the analog rawness and the minimalism, but the arrangements and writing are always so fucking boring.

I personally don't get this song. I usually like the analog, old gear, aesthetic too.

It's a chizzled song, it's groovy, but the arrangement itself doesn't do much for me.

His high rating comes from the idea that he launched Novel Sound and Deconstruct basically on his own. Wrote all of his songs on his own, and doesnt need other people to remix his stuff in order for it to sell. In fact, his remixes are what make other people's otherwise forgetable records sell. But he's not the only one. And that still doesn't make me like his music any more or less. It's nice and all, but if I don't like the music then I don't care, to be frank. I know he has his own style which is very raw and stripped-down, but it doesn't resonate with me despite the fact that others might like it.
