I just purchased this the other day, and it's...well, different.
I think the main hype is riding on Coe's name...if it were a different artist, GUARANTEE you that it wouln't have gotten as much acclaim.
Good album, but not what everybody says it is. Extremely new and fresh, miles from ordinary cookie cutter prog.
Whats up with Wavy Gravy? Why does everybody like that song so much? It's 'tiring' to me...but then again, that's just me.
My faves would have to be Cloud Cuckoo and Boileroom...absolutly stunning...music that drugs you up without the drugs, no?
FACT: Wavy Gravy was written right after Xpander. Release wise,it's new. Song and production wise, it's not.

Personally, I think airdrawndagger is miles beyond standard progressive. Much of the standard prog sound leaves me completely cold, airdrawndagger is full of warm, and incredibly deep beats though...I would have fallen in love with the album no matter who produced it.
Sorry that you can't enjoy Wavy Gravy, to me it's utterly brilliant, the depth of the song is otherworldly, and it just hit all the right buttons for me.
My second fave on the album is probably the oddball Requiem...the end of the cut is very strange, but I like it for some reason
I wish more artists would take it to the next level like Sasha did with this release...it's my favourite new album of the year so far by a large margin, and Wavy Gravy is my favourite new track.
Just brilliant stuff through and through IMHO

I wasn't expecting Xpander to be on it really, i mean, it was released on vinyl and we first heard it ages ago. I guess he wanted the tracks on the CD to be never heard before. Ah well, doesn't bother me really

I bought the cd a few days ago and I love it to bits. Definitely recommended for people who can appreciate tunes that don't go anywhere near the 140 bpm mark. For me the highlight track of the album is Wavy Gravy. It's such a beautiful and well produced track. It sounds so much fresher than 99 % of the garbage out there and deserves the attention it's been getting. Certainly one of the best tracks this year IMO. Other faves at the moment are Magnetic North and Mr Tiddles.
Regarding Xpander, I dont' think there would have been any point in including it on this album. I mean it's an old track that has been released on both vinyl and cd much before... and not to mention played out a million times. Not that I'm getting bored of it. I have the Xpander Ep on cd and still listen to it surprisingly often. Quality work all the way... much like the new album...

Sahsa didnt put Xpander on airdrawndagger, or any of his other classics (Magic, Scorchio, Be As One) because he wanted the album to show that hes moved on from 95-99, that hes reinvented his sound, I know this because he said it in Mixmag

why is there so much acclaim for this album... its sooooooooo boring. I heard sasha at space in Ibiza and he was amazing... nothing like airdrawndaggar.. this is more of a dark chill out mix.
Not that good...
