Do you know of a TOP NOTCH masterer?

Just out of interest does anyone know who the real mastering pro's are, the experienced specialist mastering bod that the big names beat a path too?

It's for this track here below. To my ears it lacks good ole fashioned warmth.

I've run it through my own fairly limited analogue emulations such as T-RACS Fairchild 670, but to me the track sounds harsh and plastic. I have read this plastic tonality might be due to mixing in Cubase - but plenty of pro's use Cubase so I'm not sure I buy that one.

I am imagining some of you will say it's the sound choices I'm making, but bare in mind some of the sounds are my own analogue synth recorded into Cubase, and they end up sounding a little digital and plastic to my ears. Other sounds are primarily made with DCAM synth squad.

Mix wise I'm pretty happy (but none the less would always welcome feedback as one gets too close to thier own cake to know if the taste is right), but I think in terms of a little final fairy dust, I just want to try a real experienced pro masterer with outboard. The experienced track record is the most important part here for me.

Raphie of course does a good job, but none the less I'm curious about what a renowned pro might bring.

On the other hand, some artists say they like to master themselves - Deadmau for example said in article "why would I want to give my baby to someone else"?

Also Danny Byrd says he masters himself and fully limits ITB (as he feels running the masterout hot with his own mastering chain gives the exact pump and loudness style he's after), but then still has a masterer run through some gear to add - something......

would say you need to fix the mix first but ,

not really sure how to answer your question. It isn't like it is a secret. Check out an album you like, look at the credits and find ouot for yourself. We use a few guys at sterling sound.

Be prepared to pay about 500 and hour. Some guys are booked for well lets just say you won't ever get a time slot so look somewhere else. Haven't heard anything from Raphie lately but he was just starting and well you could tell. But he charges 20$ or something stupid like that that. Either way , nobody will notice. Since the standards for audio are quite low , i would just do it myself till you are good enough.

I did try finding out who some of my fave artists use, by Google searching and looking at thier releases but thus far a fail for me.
Michael Woods in particular is the artist I most admire. Been unable to find any production interviews with him.

Mix wise - most of all I'm trying to get it sounding ok on basic PC speakers. Not sure whats wrong mix wise now - I've A/B'd it many times. I don;t like the bass too heavy as I worry it will be too dense in a club.

Doing it myself in order to get a 'Warmth', wise I have no further tools to use and don't like keep spending on gear, unless someone could convince me there is a particularly good warmer upper. I didn't think much of PSP Vintage Warmer. I have the SSL bundle - hvae not tried it on the mastering channel though.
