What are good hardware samplers for live PA?

Hello again,

I'm looking to add a sampler to my setup. I already have a drum machine and an analog synth, and the sampler would complete the "trifeca" per se. Plus I think having a sampler will be wicked fun

I'm leaning heavily towards the Korg Electribe ES-1, mainly because I already own two other Electribes, so I know how the interface is going to work. They are currently closing on Ebay for $150-250, based on condition and what extras are included.

I did some research, and I can't find any *new* hardware samplers, or at least samplers that use newer storage mediums. The ES-1 takes SmartMedia cards, which are a joke these days at $30-50 for a 64MB card! I have seen the Dr.Boss samplers floating around, but IDK if they're worth the price. I don't think the older rack-mount samplers offer what I need, either.

Are there any other hardware samplers that would be great for live play? So far I haven't had the need to use a laptop in my PA, and I would like to keep it that way for now.

This is what I want:

- Ability to trigger samples on-the-fly with a button press. I can't be digging through a bunch of menus when I'm in the middle of a song!

- Some form of removable media so that I can load samples from my PC, instead of having to "record" my samples. I would like to have this be compatible with a newer format like an SD card or a direct USB connection instead of SmartMedia :/

- It would be nice to have some loop splicing/cutting functions on board.

- NOT rack-mount. I need to be able to use this off of a regular table.

- Professional grade outputs (XLR or 1/4" instead of just RCA) would be a big plus.

Any suggestions? I might just bite on the ES-1. It does seem really slick despite the antiquated removable media. Thanks!
