I've been into using synthesis for real sounds and its pretty cool what you can do. A friend of mine did this with just synth 1

Synth1 is a beast. I made all my earlier tracks with it almost exclusively, just the best freeware synth out there.

you add a high pass filter then minus some cutoff then you add a resonance filter with spectral gate then on the master channel expander along with a compressor with a ratio of 8:1 and hard knee

then add some cowbell

lol

so basically you take the sound and ad a filter lol. Brilliant. You forgot the actual synthesis part dumbass. HArd knee. Can't forget that as it is obviously a crucial part of the sound.

the means do not make the end any better

are we currently tripping as that makes very little sense. Unless you ar talking about achieving cool results with what many would consider shit tools. THen yes. To be honest, most of the sound character comes from impulse responses from cabinets and wave shaping.
