Sound Quality Question

Ok listen to this song at 1:25 and any volume. Why do the highs make my ears want to bleed? It not the first time I hear this phenomenon but WTF is it? Clipping? The original song can't be like that?

there is no high end in that track. Sounds like everything about 8k is gone. A bad vynil rip compressed via the mp3 conversion.

MP3 conversion shouldn't be doing something like that though, no?
The poor vinyl rip definitely makes sense especially if they are not watching their levels.

That open hat with ride-like qualities that's panned to the right is just annoying at that point. The various stages of conversion might have distorted it or it was clipping. I can hear various clipping artifacts throughout the track, though.

I don't understand why people would upload something that doesn't sound right. Is this pure ignorance or laziness?

Maybe uploading songs to youtube does something to the quality as well.

Yes, youtube murders quality. Bad vinyl rip murders quality. Low quality mp3 (you guessed it) murders quality. Add all those up and it sounds bad. Most people don't care though.
