So Why does no one Pick on House or Electro for using the same sounds?
Hey TA,
This has been bugging me for a while because I still can't figure out an answer. As many of you may know, that trance music has been criticized heavily amongst the dance music culture, for so called, "using the same sounds" or for sounding all the same. What I don't get is, why isn't the community picking on house music or electro music that much?
As far as I know, house music still to this day still uses a lot of the old house sounds but no one seems to have a problem with it? Not to say House music is shit or bad;I like some tracks, but a lot of them use the same backtrack or chord progression.Tech house is one genre that falls under this and deep house.
A lot of the deep house tracks have the same sort of sounds yet no one seem to have a problem with it?
So why trance?
Electro however, is just fart noises, yet people seem to find something new and something interesting in it. It's all noise to me. It's the same pitch and frequency...annoying as hell.
Should we really be focusing on what Trance sound is used? Or should it be how it's used? And By Trance I don't mean this trouse rubbish.

Romanticism of the past. Plus its scene tends to think of itself as more sophisticated because the music tends to get played in more intimate environments rather than stadium concerts.
As for farty-electro, you'll find its detractors (*cough*) have been complaining about it for as long as its existed. Doesn't stop its fanbase from enjoying it tho'.
Trance has been more of a scapegoat for the scene its cultivated the past decade than for the musical content. Mind, the annoyingly repetitive epic-anthem-cheeseball stuff came part-and-parcel with that scene (yay hopping in one spot with a fist in the air while playing sing-a-long to trite vocals!), but there you have it.
One theory, anyway.

Ah! Thanks that's one explanation. However, trance gets bashed to shit. Probably more than house.

Ferry then it was followed by the Drill- Drill. Then followed by Alex M.O.R.P.H. vs. Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary then it became a trend cool to incorporates farts. Thus the downfall of EuroTrance.

Who are we talking about when you say "the community"? I'm pretty sure there isn't some unified electronic music community that agrees on anything about any style of music. Techno fans, drum 'n bass fans, trance fans, house fans... they all have completely different points of reference, different types of party, different tastes.
Who, exactly, is picking on trance for sounding the same? Is it those house and electro people, whose music all sounds the same, or just various people?
Is it those progressive fucking rockers? Because they have no fucking room to talk! None!
