British mom, grew up in South Africa, been in London for almost 7 years.

My accent is non-existant, it just sounds like generic English, but with British pronunciation of word's like dance and can't.

Most Brits can tell that I am not from here originally because I don't have a specific accent of any local area.

My accent sounds like I grew up in any old upper middle-class American suburb, i.e. like a typical American newscaster.

my accent is perfect for the news, null accent. although i tend to pronouce some words as they should be prnouced, meaning i don't americanize words. by talking to me you would have no idea where i was from specifically in the us.

But see I was born and raised in California my whole life. Was around the same area for the first 20 years of my life, and moved to Southern California 5 years ago. I few TAs I have talked to, thought I was from the Midwest because the way I say some words. Lately I noticed the way I have been saying call is more like that New York style.

Since I grew up in the midwest I have a midwestern accent which means relatively no accent.

Do you watch a lot of Mafia movies?

Let me add that I refuse to listen to myself on an answering machine. It's really that bad.

Same here. "American Broadcast English".

Though, I do have a few quirks that are atypical of speaking around here that aren't really "accents". Such as, I do often use "yeah?" at the end of a sentence to mean "aren't you?" or "don't you agree?" I don't really hear other people around here say that and I'm not sure where I picked it up, but I say it.

e.g. - "So we're having spaghetti for dinner then, yeah?"

Funny thing is, my girlfriend says it, too. Only other person I've heard do that around here. But, she also spent 6 months in Australia, so I don't know if that's related.

Being english in a mostly french speaking province... I don't know what my accent is like, I guess it's more or less non-existent?
