Using sampled sounds in tracks

Hello!
This is probably a newbie question, but I wasn't able to find an answer to it, so I just have to ask.
I sampled a nice kick from an existing (profeissionally mastered) track today. As a matter of fact, this kick is way louder than the untouched samples I now add while using the kick in my track. How do I deal with this? of course I could just lower the volume of the kick or bring up everything else (I have headroom), but is this the right method? Or do I need to compress and limit every sample by itself so it matches the volume of the kick, then compress the busses and then the master? Sounds wrong to me, so please help!

As I said, I haven't found an definitve answer to this. A link to a topic regarding this would be enough...

Its louder because its been compressed ( 2-3 times probably).
Just lower the volume of the kick if you must use it, but it will probably sound like shit.

Also I wouldn't compress and limit all the samples to match the kick, because your gonna end up with no dynamics.

Just get some sample packs with kicks, I'm sure you'll find something close enough and will also sound alot better in the end.

That's because there isn't such an answer. The reason there isn't an answer is because the question is flawed. More to the point, you're either being incredibly lazy -or- your production methodology is so flawed that trying to hammer a kick into your mix is futile in the face of the 799 other problems in need of correction.

Ok I understand now, thank you. Then, can you tell me some good samplepacks with (bass)drums that sound like a real drum that has been recorded?

Thomas Penton has some really nice sample packs.

But I think you'd enjoy the Vengeance sample series.

I already got some of the Vengeance packs. Most of the samples are ripped from tracks and are already compressed. Thats what was just told to me a fews posts ago ;-) Also, most of the drums in there also sound really synthetic.

This is why answering this type of question is so fucking utterly pointless.

There's a good old saying: "If it sounds good, it is good". Stop over-thinking stuff and do music.

That's what I was always telling myself. Now I realised that it doesn't sound that good, so I need to improve. One big part of the bad sound are just samples that aren't good. Mostly because they were compressed 357234798 times (resampling!) + most of then have a cut up tail or fragments of other instruments in it. That's why I was asking for good sample packs above.
You now, I want to make music, but if it sounds bad, it's just frustrating.
