Leaving for Orlando

Can anyone mention things to do other than going in theme parks? What's the culture there. Any culinary specialty? And which theme park would be worth it. Are the ghetto worth a visit also? Gotta know if it can be worst than Montreal-Nord.

People call all soda 'coke' in Florida. It's weird you can order a coke and they'll ask you what kind.

People used to say this about where I'm from (Atlanta), and frankly I've never once heard it. I grew up in Georgia, with many vacations in Florida, and the only thing even remotely similar is them asking "regular or diet?" when you order a Coke.

I've never once heard anyone say "I'm going to the store to buy Coke", and then come back with Sprite and Mountain Dew. People just say the name of the drink.

As for Orlando, check out Universal Islands of Adventure. That place rocks.

"Coke" as a general term for soft drink is huge in Texas.

The only generalization like that I noticed back home was calling all soda machines "Coke machines". I don't recall ever hearing someone say "I'm gonna buy a Coke" and come back with a Fanta or something. I always said "soda", or the name of the drink, as did my friends and family.

The whole "I'd like a Coke", "What kind?", "Sprite please" is something I've never heard in my life.

I'll be sure to buy vanilla coke upon arrival. Gonna stop by Universal Studio too, sounds like uber dooper.

Universal is ok, but Islands of Adventure is WAAAY better. (Well, if you like roller coasters). You can get a pass to go to both, but honestly I'd rather just spend all the time at Islands.

Must-rides at Islands:
The Hulk
Jurassic Park
Dueling Dragons (I think this has been converted to the Harry Potter theme, but should still be awesome)
Spider-Man 3D

The Poseidon's Fury show is fantastic, also. It's corny, sure, but a lot of the little effects they do are cool.
