Industrial food/beverages that don't taste the same in different countries

BTG mentioned in the Macca thread that McMuffins probably don't taste the same in Australia and in Canada. I don't know if they do but the one thing I know is that, although Coca-cola tastes the same in Brazil and in the UK, they definitely taste way better than anything the Coca-Cola company sells in Japan. Really. Japanese regular Coke tastes like Brazilian Coke Zero, and Japanese Coke Zero tastes like something so heinous I assume it's sold as rat poison in other countries. Nothing of this sort seems to apply to the UK. Also, Japanese Fanta isn't nearly as orange as it should be.

For whatever reason, Starbucks doesn't offer the same flavours in all countries, but their vanilla frappucino tastes the same in Brazil, in Japan, and in England.

Have you ever tried industrialised food abroad? Did it taste like what you're used to? Share your experiences and traumas!

I had a fruit flavored tea from a starbucks in kokura that tasted like industrial floor cleaner.

Tried Macca's in quite a few countries, tastes different in most of them, especially in the UK (totally nasty there ... well, more nasty, anyway).

Australian meat, in general, has way more flavour than nearly any I had in the UK, as well. I'm talking supermarket/butcher bought meat though, not so much restaurant grade stuff.

Fanta in the UK is awful compared to here. Very different. And Coke in the US tastes weird, but that's probably because they use HFCS and not real sugar.

I think beef tastes better in Ireland than in the US. It's funny, everything there is grass-fed pretty much, but the organic grass-fed beef here costs a premium.

Forgot to try that.

I was so excited trying the stuff we don't have around here (such as Ginger Ale) that I pretty much ignored everything that was already familiar to me. Except for the pizza. God, all pizza bread there is thick by default... it's Heaven! <3

Agreed!

Not what she said, though.

my weakness, canada dry ginger ale. It's gorgeous in canada but the one we can buy in the Uk is flavourless and irritating.

Conversely, Dairy Milk and Cadburys products in the UK are 10000x better than in the US/Canada. I always have to take my brother and now his friends as much as I can fit into my luggage allowance once I've packed clothes and stuff.

Stu, proper butchers meats here are much better, there's so much water and shit in the supermarket stuff that it's awful.

I tried a lot of butchers as well, in MANY cities in the UK. Maybe I was just unlucky, I don't know.

You'll understand when you come over here to visit, eventually Our meat and produce are among the best in the world, which is why we're a huge exporter for it
