For anyone who missed this, or for anyone who gave it a look and passed on it, I'm posting this so that you'll at least reconsider. This one of the most genius deep house albums I've ever heard. If anyone can recommend something in a similar style that is like a 5 out of 5 on the all around quality meter, please hook a brother up. I only want the rare exceptions please. No mediocrity

I generally dont agree with the concept of an artist album for an EDM producer. It seems the format went to shit with the mp3 revolution. Old artist albums were much more well thought out on the whole than the newer artist albums seem to be. So when something like this comes along, the complete package, I am so thankful.

Have you heard 'Chigaco' by Efdemin? (also on Dial) or the latest Roman Flügel one? (big surprise, also on Dial)

Smallville also has put out some nice deephouse records in the last years (Move D & Benjamin Brunn - Songs From The Beehive; Christian Rau - Asper Clouds; Moomin - The Story About You)

If you liked the John Roberts one you're most likely gonna like the Efdemin and Flügel ones, too. If you haven't heard the Move D & Benjamin Brunn one yet, check it out, it's seriously some of the most out there and captivating House of the last decade. Some even call it one of the best albums of the 2000s and I think it's definitely capable of being put there.

Some good suggestions in this thread. I personally think "Det.Riot '67" is KDJ's best album.

Its good def. Its only really 4 or 5 tracks with some interludes. I listen to that one I linked to above the most. Its almost worn out, especially the long version of mahogany

What I love mostly about KDJ is that he always has a theme for his albums. It's something most producers lack now a days. He always tries to produce down to his Detroit roots and share a bit of the life down there with other people.

Yea, Det.Riot is a bit shorter, that's what I mainly like about it. Short, concise, tells the story - and good music

Not saying the other albums aren't total work of art, obviously

another artist that has such themes is Terre Thamelitz (not about Detroit life though)
