so planning a trip this summer to Dominican Republic, anybody been there?

how's the club scene?

i've heard punta cana is the best part to go.

any thoughts? opinions?

Santo Domingo has some decent events from time to time. Punta Cana is primarily a resort town. There's a club called Mangu Disco that is quite popular.

I've been. Of all the places ive visited in the world, its my least favorite thats for sure. I mean the country is sharing a border with Haiti for God's sake.

We stayed in Punta Cana at a very nice resort. Heading to the resort we saw people carrying chickens that were beheaded hanging on sticks through town. Also armed gunman driving down the road in large trucks....

Very third world feeling. We stayed for a week, and were left very unimpressed.

Club scene? I couldn't imagine....

There are good and bad areas of town, just like any other country. DR has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

ok so starting to get some second doubts on dominican republic.

originally we wanted to go to puerto rico but i heard it's too jungly and muggy and damp.

what suggestions do you have for a summer trip for a group of guys that want to party, a place with girls, and nice beaches/tourism.

we did miami last yr and cancun the year before.

ibiza or anywhere in europe is unfortunately out of question for this summer and my friends have done hawaii so that's out of question too.

Costa Rica is another very popular tourist destination. A lot of people there speak English so you'll feel right at home.

If you're planning on doing some clubbing, I think only Costa Rica, Panama, or Guatemala actually have decent places to go. El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras are almost non-existent in terms of a scene.
