Stop the C-51 bill (online spying) by the Conservative government now!!
I'm sure most of you already know about this:

Taken from openmedia.ca
The government is trying to sneak through a dangerous and costly set of online spying bills. If passed, these bills will create a mandatory new registry of your private electronic data and force you to pay for it.
Most people don’t know about the invasive online spying bills that will be rammed through Parliament this fall, so Canadians are stepping up to the plate, using social media and online videos to educate their fellow citizens.
The Stop Online Spying national public education campaign launches today with the release of three citizen-produced videos:
Those lobbying in favour of this scheme have even asked for the power to dictate how mobile devices are made and how online services work, so that they can force providers to hand over information from text messages, email, cellphones, and online activity. This scheme will hinder Internet choice, hurt small businesses, and hit the wallets of ordinary Canadians.
If we don’t act now to spread the word, it will become nearly impossible to stop online spying.
We know from a recent survey that 8 out of 10 Canadians oppose online spying legislation. We just need to bring Canadian voices to Ottawa.
With the viral growth of our petitions this year, we gained national media coverage and the attention of the Prime Minister’s office. This couldn’t have happened without people like you. So let’s move politics together again to save the open and affordable Internet.
Visit http://openmedia.ca/educate today and share it with everyone you know.
For the open, affordable, surveillance-free Internet,
I think it is important that we bring more public awareness about this law and talk about it as much as possible.

You are more concerned about a foreign government, that has to hack its way through multiple layers of security, than your own government that is provisioning an on demand spying system?
Is that because you don't understand what is going on, or because you refuse to talk smack about the conservatives?

Today in the state elections in Berlin the Pirate Party received 9% of the votes gaining 15 seats in the state parliament. Although I may not be the most politically informed person, I was surprised when I read that there is also a Pirate Party in Canada. With these issues facing Canadians, I thought I would spread the word a bit...
