Anybody using Wavelab Elements 7?

I want a simpler and cheaper alternative to Sound Forge for quick audio editing/mastering jobs that also is a 64-bit app (I'm sick of waiting for Sony to get their asses in gear). Unfortunately, there is no demo for Elements 7 (demo is for full version of Wavelab only) and I'm wondering how flexible the UI is in terms of creating your own layouts, dual-monitor support, etc. I don't see any of this mentioned on the website. Also, does Elements have the Soundcloud uploading capability that the full version has as of the most recent 7.2 release?

Thanks, but I'm not looking for other options, just want to know how configurable WE7 is.

No, seriously guys, I am very familiar with all the wav editor options out there and I'm not looking for other suggestions. I have very specific reasons for considering Wavelab and just want to know if Wavelab Elements 7 lets me customize layouts, make full use of my two monitors, etc.

for 99$ i think it is good. Tried it once having wavelab full and did not notice any features at that given time that were not there but it was just basic editing.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I checked that already, but it doesn't directly answer my questions. The manual goes into some detail about configuration, docking, etc., but in typical Steinberg fashion, doesn't provide enough detail to determine if it's the same as the full version or not.

Regardless, I got some more info from another source and it looks like I'll probably be going with the Elements version.

Cool, thanks! I'll give it a go and, if it sucks, I'll upgrade to the full version. I had the full verions (Wavelab 6) years ago, sold it for SF9, and now I regret it.

There are a lot of things that I love about SF, but I like Wavelab's layout and workflow much better (probably because that's the first audio editor I owned), and its metering. SF's metering is so lame that I've had to resort to 3rd party plugins, when I should have just spent that money on Wavelab instead. I also have always had problems with SF not remembering my custom layouts, funky window-resizing bugs, and I really hate the plugin chainer approach. Sony doesn't seem to keen on addressing these issues or putting out timely updates. And, of course, the big one:

Is it true 64 bit?

Sound Forge Pro 10 does support installation on a 64-bit operating system like Windows Vista or Windows 7 64-bit, however it is a 32-bit application and will function in 32-bit mode.

Any plans to release a 64 bit version of Sound Forge?

At this time, Sound Forge Pro is supported within 64-bit operating systems and will function as a 32-bit application in a 64-bit environment. However, we have not announced any plans regarding Sound Forge Pro becoming a 64-bit native application.
