2nd grade turntable alternatives

Whats best under the top turntables. Currently i would consider the numark ttx, Technics, and vestax the top 3. The rest, like gemini pt-2400 or numark tt-200 or stantons, etc.. would be 2nd grade. Im wondering which is the best of the underdogs. ALSO, what would be better, Gemini SA 2400 (Straight arm turntable for 189) or Gemini PT 2400 (S Arm for 240) Thanks =D

Either STR8-100's, PT-2410, or the TT-200
And out of this it would be the Stanton and the Gemini. You will find the Stanton costs more and has more torque, but both have a lot of pro's and cons.

STR8-100
*Has higher torque
*Has both Phono/line output
*Various inputs such as MP3, etc.
*Straight arm
*Master Tempo (Key Adjust)
*Has the annoying motor off feature on the start/stop button, to stop it properly you will have to reach to the back on the TT!!!

PT-2410
*S-type arm
*Very useful LCD Screen
*Blue led's, lcd and faceplate
*Cheaper than STR8-100

So you can see that the Stanton does have more advantages, but also around $50 more expensive.. if you want looks and the lcd screen which does come handy, the PT-2410 would be a good choice. But if you a purist you would choose the STR8-100

Both also have pitch bend and reverse which are quite useful and fun

Oh.. and on the issue of the PT-2410/2400 or the SA-2400..
It depends on how much you really scratch with your TT's.. if you do quite a bit of scratching then the SA-2400's would be good.
But if i had a choice i would go the straight arm as you can't really hear the difference in sound quality from S-type and straight arm.
The SA series also has a nice black piano laquer finish..!
The green LCD screen also looks nicer on the black faceplate

I personally own a pair of SV2200's... which are striaght arm versions of the PT2100's only they are in battle position (read: the buttons are moved around... I am very happy with these tables... strong motor, sturdy as hell, and they have that wonderful black finish... the only gripe I have is that they are missing dust covers but that is not a problem on the SA2400's... but all in all I love the tables... if you are deciding between the straight and the "s" shaped tables I'd suggest you go with the straights... mainly because they are cheaper... there is one problem that you may run into... because they are straight arms you have to use the headshell that they provide in order to ensure that eliptical styli will sit properly in the groove... so this will really only effect you if you wanted to go out and get a pair of eliptical plugin carts... you'd notice that one chanel is louder than the other... but other than that I love my tables...
