its normal... the sound is so loud there that its impossible to record everything clearly... its like when your friend is in a party calling you with his cell phone telling you to listen to the music, you won't hear anything its not that bad but its better than nothing.

I could've remove the original sound and put an mp3 audio feed instead for better clarity but I would've lost the crowd screaming etc...

also, it was my first experience filming

There is, in principle, a way you can compile
the audio together such that you have both the
mp3 quality and the crowd screaming. This,
assuming that you have a recording of the set
from a "LINE OUT" or something similar

It is harder than I will make it sound, but should be possible. You take the mp3 audio (that from the LINE OUT) and make it raw digital audio.
You take the audio from the video recording (that with the crowd) and make that raw. You "negate" the LINE OUT audio, then average the two streams together. The superposition should cancel out all the music (in principle) and you are left with crowd screaming and additional noise. Filter out the noise if possible. Then, add the filtered audio to the LINE OUT audio. You should have the best of both worlds now (in principle). Dub the video with the new audio you just created.

Is this worth your time?

of course its an excellent idea and I thougth about it for a while...

but obviously i don't have a recording of his music alone from his decks or something similar... and also this is waaaay to complicated for me. Its already taking too much time (i'm not done yet) and multiplexing sound would take maybe one more month...

my backgrounds are software engineering... nothing to do with audio/video editing

you can check out the clip of Ferry Corsten that we finished over the summer.

Let me suggest that you get a Sony Pd-150 it has a great boom mic on the end and can actually record the audio crystal clear with the sound of the crowd....no line out of the mixer required.

Also I would suggest a nice wide angle lense that has helped to get the whole panorama of DJ/Crowd interaction.
