Traktor Pro CPU Problem

Hello, I just bought the Traktor S2 that was included with a version of Traktor Pro. I haven't even really used it because as soon as I start Traktor Pro, the little CPU bar goes crazy. Also, on the S2, the light with the exclamation point flashes like crazy too. When I try to play it, there is a lot of clipping and glitches. The high CPU usage and the flashing light on the S2 do the same thing even if I'm not playing a track. I've messed around with the buffer settings in ASIO, put my computer on high performance, and I've disabled Wi-fi, to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

What are your computer specs?

Also, if its a new install, there is a chance that your song collection is being analyzed which would use up alot of your CPU resources.

Probably Asio thing, i remember something similar happening to me and i tweaked that and now it only handles 10% of the cpu usage or less. Get new ASIO 4 All drivers.

Sounds like a driver issue. Unplug the S2 from the computer and start Traktor to make sure the problem isn't with Traktor itself. Are you sure you installed the S2 driver and not another hardware driver during the installation process?

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks to everyone who suggested what the problem could be, but I figured out what was causing the high CPU and the flashing warning light on the S2. I simply had to uncheck "Enable Multi-core processor support". Not sure what that means, but it fixed the problem.

However, under audio setup in preferences, should the Traktor S2 be listed under audio device? Whenever I turn the S2 on, it switches from ASIO to that. Also, what should be listed under the built-in soundcard? Right now it says ASIO4ALL v2. I changed a few settings when I was trying to figure out the CPU problem and was wondering if they need to be changed to something else. Sorry if these seem like stupid questions. I'm really new to this. Thanks again for all the help.

Yes, the S2 should be listed under audio device, because that's what you are routing all sound through.

Regarding built-in soundcard; I'm pretty sure that's just a failsafe sp if the S2 crashes for some reason you'll still get sound, i dunno. If you're other soundcard is built-in crap then asio4all will work, or you can select just the soundcard itself. I don't really think it matters as I don't think it uses it in any way, but maybe the non-asio4all choice there, if it's "borrowing" power or anything from it. I dunno, would love to hear someone else's view on this.

Alright, thanks for the info. The reason I was asking is because whenever I turn the S2 on and run Traktor, I have to go into my audio setup and change the S2 listed under audio device to ASIO4ALL in order to get any sound. Do you have any idea what is causing this? Not really a big problem, I just have to switch the audio device from the S2 to ASIO to get sound. But according to you the S2 should be listed under audio device, so that makes me worried that something is wrong in my audio settings. I know this sounds like it contradicts my earlier post, but I have to switch it to ASIO to get any sound. Also, the sound is coming from my speakers, which are hooked up to my computer.

Haha, I went back and reread my post. It sounds really repetitive, sorry about that.

WHen you open settings, on the bottom the list (decks, mixer, routing etc) does the Traktor S2 has it's own little menu? Where you can control the lights on the controller and other controller-specific options?

Sorry for the super late reply, been busy with school and haven't even had the time to mess with the S2 much. But I think I figured out my problem, and it was pretty simple I think. I had the speakers plugged into my computer, not the S2, so obviously I had to use the computer'ss soundcard in the audio setup to have any sound come from the speakers. But if I was to hook up speakers to the S2, then I would have the Traktor S2 selected in the list. Sorry again for the late reply. Thanks to all for the help!
