Personal tuition/mentoring in London area?

Hi there

at the risk of getting flamed , does anyone know of any trance producers in the london (uk) area who might do one on one personal tuition/mentoring. Naturally im talking about paid lessons - of a more intermediate level rather than the proper basics.

I started learning piano over a year ago and i have a great teacher. If it were possible to do the same with production/ engineering it would be brilliant

please contact samplebox at gmail.com if interested

thanks

chris

not stupid at all. I would pm lolo who might have some leads. As long as you don't live too far away and are not a drug addict sketch case. Most people will not let you into their own studio for security reasons.

get their emails. be specific in what you want to learn as these people have never taught. So you will basically have to come up with the questions. And they need to be specific. And you can't expect to be spoon fed. If you approach them with this attitude, you will find even the top producers will actually help. You would be surprised. So many of the best producers are old and would actually like to teach. They just don't want to deal with retards.

I much better approach than going to those stupid private colleges. Expect to pay about 100 $ an hour.

Hi Chris

Contact my old mate Alex Parsons at 16steps http://16steps.co.uk/

He's had tons of releases in a bunch of different genres and is one of the nicest guys in the industry. He's classically trained as well as a very good engineer and can help you with all aspects of production.

Nice thing about his services is that he works on your tracks, either at his custom built teaching studio, or can do it remotely while you sit at home. Hi students have also had a bunch of releases as well.

Tell him I sent you and he'll certainly look after you

mentoring

That's a dam common sense idea isn't it. I often wondered why it wasn't obvious to budding producers to do the "personal approach" for mentoring?

it really is. And they really should be more upfront about their placement batting average.

I mentor 1 person and I don't charge. But i picked him. As someone that really never had any help, I try to help those that need it. But it is more about composition and orchestration and lately production as well as you kinda have to know it all.

I honesty hate teaching people that don't really want to learn. I often get called to help bands with arranging and what not. That can be rewarding, but alot of them have egos that just make it not worth while. I hate babysitting. Most bands will have someone like me that will make a track radio friendly or have a bridge that makes sense which most bands/ pop artists just don't know how to do. A lost art. Like how say the last verse after the bridge ends up in a key that is right were the singer can sing their money shot, and how to do that without sounding like you are being too technical, it is easy but well if you don't have that background, impossible for most.

actually the worst 40 000 $ would be like going to vegas, hiring 3 pornstars and snorting enough cocaine that your dick isn't working. And then you get hit by a bus and lose your legs.
