I have a new trance song I'm working on but I'm relatively new at producing trance..

Hi guys,

I've been listening to trance for many years now and I really enjoy it so much that I've always wanted to create trance music. However, I was always reluctant to because of the layers and layers of sounds needed to achieve a quality-trance track.

But...I told myself I should try and this is what I managed to make:

What do you guys think I can work on? I know there are many things I could have done better (besides the mixing) so feel free to throw anything out there. Just don't be too harsh on me, please? :x

What I noticed first is the lack of structure. Not quite sure if this was done purposely due to the fade out, but an intro/breakdown/release/outro (basic concept) is much needed. The sounds used had too much of a preset feel to me, more layering mixed with proper EQ will not only give more "flavor" to the track but also help give it a unique feel. As short as is was, I give it a solid 5/10. If making music is a passion that you have, than don't give up. The beginning is a slow build, but like good trance "the wait is well rewarded when you hit the release".

Cheers

Thanks. Yeah the lack of structure was done on purpose because I just wanted to get the general idea down. Plus, the breakdown/climax/lead, is usually where all the instruments you ever use in a trance track are. Everything else like the intro and outro just involve adding and subtracting instruments (for the most part).

I didn't want it to sound a lot like a preset...especially since I actually synthesized those sounds myself (the bass, pad, arp lead) but I guess you're right, more layering & eqing is required.

Thanks again for your input!

I would enjoy hearing a finished track when/if finished.

On another note, I'm still yoin in the trance scene and would love for some criticism as well! Thanks
