Using reverb to get depth into the mix

Hello!

Short and sweet: How to use reverb to get depth into the mix? Or What type of reverb to use?
Examples:

in the break at 1:20

Whenever it add that much reverb to my elements, everything clutters up completely, so my tracks always seem rather flat compared to the ones above. So what's the 'trick' about it'?

EQ, bussing, and moderation. Don't put a reverb effect on every channel you want reverb on. Send your reverb channels to one or two busses dedicated for that effect. Cut down on the lows and mids on the reverb bus and be careful not to over-use it.

EDIT: Also, don't use it if you don't have to. If you're just looking to tack on a little evanescence for an instrument, try fiddling with the decay on the synth you're using rather than shunting it through reverb.

Also, a little bit of pre-delay can help separate the dry signal from the reverb and keep it from sounding washed out in reverb.

Alright thanks guys!
I am trying to use the reverb on a send channel as I am writing these lines - till now I always used it as an insert effect.

But how does he get his reverb so audible? I can create the biggest rooms that are also really present, but not that 'fat' with such nice tails. Don't know how to describe it better.
