What do you guys recommend? I've always used the Transient Shaper that comes bundled with Sonar, but it's locked to Sonar, which I'm using less and less these days. I want something for Studio One and Pro Tools, so preferably something that comes in both VST and RTAS. Preferably cheap, since I probably won't get a ton of use out of it.

So far, the only one I've checked out is Waves TransX. Any other suggestions?

The SPL one is simple but most excellent. Other than that I just use a compressor.

Which SPL version are you guys referring to - the free Attacker, or the $199 UAD version? I'm definitely not interested in the latter. I remember trying the Attacker like 5 or 6 years ago and wasn't very impressed with it at the time, but maybe I need to try it again.

I hadn't really considered the Sonnox before because I figured it was probably in the $200+ range, but it's only $115 - still more than I hoped to spend, but I'll check it, and the Melda and VIP plugins out.

edit: looks like the SPL Attacker is $59 now. I remember when it was first released (or may another version), it was free. I think I still have the installation files somewhere, but not installed.

SPL or transX from waves

I find the transX is better when you only want to boost or reduce certain freq's

why would any sane person recommend the same product on a stupid platform that introduces latency for the sake of protecting their products against piracy. People that support UAD financially are fools.

I think I'm leaning toward either the TransX, or the Sonnox. I just realized that Sonnox has some pretty good savings if you buy multiple plugins, so I might pick up that and Supressor, but I'm going to give them a demo first.

No worries, I have no intentions of buying a UAD or a $199 SPL.

Oops, I'm a dumbass. I just realized that the currency shown at the top of the page is in something called "Pounds".
